Description

From the warmth of the sun's early rays to the spectacular colors of sunset, a young boy connects to nature and finds joy throughout the day.

As he awakes in the morning, a child feels the sunshine through his window. The boy appreciates his connection to the sun, despite how far away it is, just as he appreciates his connection with his mama.

Excited and energized, he spends the day with Mama. They plant seeds, splash each other with water, and dance―all while letting their minds find peace. As the day winds down, they take a walk up their neighborhood hill, letting go of stress and marveling at the beautiful colors of the sunset.

The Thank You, World series features lyrical stories about appreciating nature, connecting with our senses, and being present in the moment. These soothing books help young readers let go of stress, observe without judgment, and remain optimistic―even when the sun isn't shining. Thank You, Sun:

  • Demonstrates the benefits of mindfulness
  • Models how to let go of the stress at the end of the day
  • Encourages calm reflection and gratitude for the world around us
  • Includes discussion questions to build on the story's themes

Thank You, Sun shows how to connect with one another, appreciate nature, quiet our worries, and allow our minds and bodies to wander in grateful contemplation.

Dan McCauley

Dan McCauley is a writer and teacher who grew up in New York City and is based in Los Angeles, California.   Before writing books, Dan exercised his passion for writing in arts festivals and spoken word poetry. Before then, he secretly wrote poems in the back of his 8th-grade algebra notebook. Raised by little league coaches, a caring Bronx community, and his family's love, Dan pursued his passion for teaching and storytelling at NYU and minored in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. After teaching in the Bronx, Dan moved to Los Angeles, where he continues to teach. Dan holds a Master's degree in the Art of Teaching and is a member of the Author’s Guild and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. He has spent more than a decade working with young people. Whether in K-12 classrooms or spoken word stages and little league baseball fields, the question that continues to inform Dan's work is: what helps young people heal, grow, and thrive?
Dan is the author of the Thank You, World children's book series.
