Representation for Books That Are Ready for the World.

Dropcap Rights Agency

Our agency represents compelling, carefully curated, and exclusive titles.

DropCap Rights Agency offers exclusive in-house representation for authors and publishers whose books have demonstrated the potential to succeed in international markets. Representation is by invitation only extended at our agents’ discretion, based on their assessment of your book’s potential and market fit.

How the Invitation Happens

THERE IS NO APPLICATION. THERE IS NO FORMULA.

DropCap’s agents are always evaluating books in the marketplace. When a book generates strong buyer interest through inquiries, fair engagement, sample requests, or simply because an agent recognizes exceptional potential, they may reach out directly to discuss representation.

WHAT AGENTS LOOK FOR

Representation invitations are based on our agents’ professional judgment, informed by decades of experience in international rights. Some of the signals that matter:

  • Consistent buyer interest across multiple markets or territories
  • Strong Rights Readiness Score combined with commercial traction
  • Genre and positioning that aligns with current international acquisition activity
  • An author or publisher who is actively investing in their book’s visibility and longevity
  • A book that our agents genuinely believe in which matters more than any metric
TIMING

Representation can be offered at any point. Early in a membership if an agent sees immediate potential, or after sustained traction builds over time. There is no minimum listing period or performance threshold. There is judgment, applied by people who know the market.

Probably not.

Foreign rights, also known as translation rights are a whole different sector of the publishing world, and many small to mid-sized publishers don’t have agents that are experienced in the global market.

That’s what makes DropCap so special.

Anyone who’s worked in publishing or written a book knows how complicated the industry can be.

Everything from production to distribution to marketing requires a wealth of knowledge, and that is just here in the US.

Foreign rights include understanding the global book market, the needs of each region, and the cultural know-how to reach a mutually beneficial contract agreement.

That’s what we specialize in at DropCap, and why we are leading rights literary agency in the world.

We could never promise an author or a publisher that their book will be picked up by our worldwide partners.

What we can promise is that with the team at DropCap you’ll have the best in the business actively marketing, pitching, and showcasing your titles, curating them very specifically to the buyers we know will be the most interested in licensing and publishing your work in their region.
