Dr. Jian Zhang is a nationally recognized healthcare executive, nurse leader, educator, and community advocate whose career spans more than three decades of service in healthcare leadership. Her journey began in a small rural village in Guangdong, China, during the Cultural Revolution, and led her to become the Chief Executive Officer of Chinese Hospital in San Francisco—the last remaining independent community hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare System Executive Leadership from the University of San Francisco, her Master of Science in Nursing and post-master's certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of California, San Francisco, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China. She is a Clinical Professor at UCSF and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Recognitions include Forbes 50 Over 50: Innovation (2023), Modern Healthcare's 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives (2024), San Francisco Business Times Most Influential Women in Business (2025), and California Distinguished Woman of the Year (2021, 2023).
